10 Samsung Galaxy S10 Must Have Apps You Should Know

NOTE: We have created an archive of all the major developments related to the Samsung Galaxy S10 series. We keep updating this page with the latest S10e/S10/S10+ news so you don't have to search for information about the device every day. Go here to go to this page.

The ever-increasing popularity of Android is heavily influenced by the sheer number of third-party apps. With over 2.1 million apps available only through Google Play, the Google-developed operating system even beats Apple's iOS in terms of app availability .

On the other hand, readers might remember the death of the Windows Mobile platform mainly due to the lack of apps.

Samsung, one of the largest smartphone makers in the world, long ago dropped support for Windows Mobile. After tinkering with Tizen for a short time, they dedicated their resources exclusively to Android for phone and tablet development.

The 10th anniversary edition of the Samsung S series, also known as the Galaxy S10, unveiled a number of advanced technologies such as the in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, the 'Infinity-O' display with perforated front cameras and support for 5G (via a special Variant).

Galaxy S10 5G

Samsung's skin version of Android in the Galaxy S10, known as One UI, comes pre-installed with a number of inbox apps. Some users consider it to be bloatware and we have written an article showing how to remove these unwanted apps even without root .

Still, people are always looking for innovative (sometimes funky) apps to improve their phones' UX. In one of our previous stories, we highlighted a number of such apps.

NiceLock, an alternative launcher for Samsung Good Lock modules

In this article, we will show you another set of 10 must-have apps for your Samsung Galaxy S10e/S10/S10 Plus. Without further ado, here it is:

01 hiding hole

Love the phone but can't handle the holes in the gorgeous AMOLED display? Legendary Android developer Jorrit Jongma, popularly known as Chainfire, has you covered with his Hidey Hole app.

The app automatically collects community-made wallpapers that can "obscure the camera cutout (hide the hole)". It also gives users the ability to reorient/scale images.

Shameless display, but k2rx.com also maintains a curated list of these "punch" wallpapers. Check out this post to choose one from the collection.

02 hole light

Chainfire unleashed its true potential by releasing Holey Light to mimic the Galaxy S10 series' missing notification LED by illuminating the edge of the front camera hole.

The developer has made the app open source and is constantly bringing new features and fixing existing bugs. You can find the support thread here.

03 arc lighting

Epicity of XDA members have developed Arc Lighting, another app that brings the notification LED features through camera cutout animations. In addition, the app supports a variety of customizations.

04 battery ring

As the name suggests, this nifty little app can create a ring around the cutout to show the remaining battery juice.

The developer has made the app truly portable, so it should work on other phones besides the Galaxy S10 range.

You can download the app from Google Play (Free, Pro) or XDA forums.

05 boundary light

Originally developed for the OnePlus 6, Borderlight features a slow-moving colorful border around the edges of your screen. You can think of it as a more artistic extension and a replacement for the built-in edge lighting feature.

You can contact the developer through the official support thread.

06 Wings Font [Samsung]

Are you fed up with the limited collection of fonts that Samsung offers? Can't find your favorite comic font in the Galaxy Store? With Wings Font you can choose from hundreds of new fonts from the built-in font catalog. In addition, you can also use local TrueType Font ( TTF) files.

The Galaxy S10 phones are supported by the Release Candidate version of the app. For more details and download links, click here.

07 bxActions

With bxActions it is possible to completely map the Bixby button to any action or app. You can even disable the button completely.

The full list of features is as follows:

08 sound assistant

Here comes the first Samsung-developed app in the list - SoundAssistant. For detailed audio control, this is a must-have app.

This app can be downloaded from Google Play or the Galaxy App Store.

09 Adhell3 & Disconnect Pro

Block system-wide ads - check;no root access required - check;no background service - check;no battery drain - check!

If you don't mind configuring a small number of manual configurations, go for Adhell3.

On the other hand, if you don't mind paying a one-time fee of $25, look for Disconnect Pro in the Galaxy apps.

10 Google Camera (Port)

You should already know how Google Camera ports can dramatically improve camera performance, especially in low light conditions.

Here interested readers can find compatible Gcam ports for their Snapdragon Galaxy S10 models (USA, Canda, Hong Kong) and Exynos Galaxy S10 models (rest of the world).

FYI, the Exynos port is a bit inferior to the Snapdragon port as some features don't work on the previous one.

Honorable Mention: Magisk

I know, I know - Magisk isn't your typical app. But once you root with Magisk, you can literally do whatever you want!

You can use iOS emojis, change your startup animation, install exclusive Google Pixel apps - the list goes on!
