The Samsung PL150 digital camera offers dual LCD screens and a 12.4 megapixel sensor

The PL150 from Samsung is a 12.4 megapixel dual LCD digital camera. It's an ideal pocket camera for a young partygoer. It has a front-mounted LCD screen in addition to the main screen on the back, so you can see Say goodbye to unflattering self-portraits and well-framed glamorous photos of you making the most of your youth.

The Samsung PL150 has a 27-135mm image stabilized zoom lens and is a camera packed with great features and scene modes. It comes in a variety of colors and is even reasonably priced.

The camera is solidly built and small, so it fits easily in your pocket or purse. On the back of the PL150 is a 3-inch LCD screen, the usual navigation buttons and a mode dial. Navigating through various menus and Options is easy; you don't have to spend an agonizing amount of time figuring out how to use the camera (just press the Fn key to access most functions).

On the top of the PL150 is the shutter button, surrounded by a zoom wheel; to the left is the button to activate the LCD on the front of the camera, which is particularly handy for self-portraits. Something else that aids in self-portraits is the beveled bottom edge of the camera body; This allows the camera to point slightly up instead of straight ahead when sitting on a flat surface. It uses the extended lens as a counterbalance, so the camera must be turned on or it may fall backwards.

Sunset mode gives your photos a warm orange tone.

The LCD screen on the front of the camera is very handy indeed: when you turn it on, face detection is automatically activated, so you can see if your face has been recognized and is in focus. Not only is this a great tool for taking self-portraits, but you also have the option to use the front LCD for video recording.

Beauty mode can make anyone look semi-decent at 7.30am.

Digital video capture with the PL150 is also quite good. Recording in HD mode at a widescreen resolution of 1280 x 720 was enjoyable. Dim lighting results in grainy footage. So make sure you're in a well-lit area if you want to get the most out of the PL150. One great feature Samsung has built into the capture mode is the option to pause mid-capture instead of recording to stop completely and then start a new one.

The camera has 10 scene modes to choose from, as well as auto and smart modes.

The fisheye effect is pretty cool, but not as cool as a real fisheye lens.

Forest mode gives photos a greenish tint.

Retro mode makes photos look like old film.

Vignette effect without flash (above) and with flash (below)

Beauty shot mode has adjustable skin softening levels, and program mode lets you control almost every aspect of the photo you take (except shutter and aperture value). Exposure is adjustable, as is white balance, ISO sensitivity, photo size, image quality, face detection , focus range, metering, photo style and more.

We have mixed feelings about photos taken in low light. The background comes out well here, but the foreground is oversaturated and ruins the whole picture.

Digital distortion and chromatic aberration plague this photo.

Image quality is good, but not exceptional. Chromatic aberration is visible in photos taken in both dark and bright situations. Digital distortion is also visible in images, but it's not a problem to write this camera off. If you're on the If you're looking for a camera to take quick snaps at a party then we think the PL150 is worth considering. However, if you want crisp images with fine detail then look elsewhere.

We have some concerns about the design.Like

Samsung ST550

As for the camera, the PL150 takes a microSD memory card instead of a full blown SD card. This will be annoying if you already have a collection of regular SD cards. A battery charger is not included; this can be a hassle if you want to charge a second battery , while continuing to use the camera.
