SAMSUNG has invented a smartphone pen with a built-in camera that can take enlarged photos.
The new gadget might even debut alongside the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 10 smartphone, which is expected to launch later this year.

Samsung largely remains silent on future gadgets until it makes an official announcement.
But the company's potential plans were exposed after a previously classified patent was released by the US Trademark Office.
The patent describes an "electric pen device" that can be controlled with another device, such as a smartphone.
Attached images show the S Pen stylus as a camera and even with optical zoom.

This would turn the S Pen stylus into a "spy camera" of sorts, allowing you to take quick selfies.
However, it's not exactly clear how high quality a camera would be in a thin pen.
It's possible that Samsung will need to increase the thickness of its stylus to support a camera.
Of course, it's entirely possible that Samsung will never release an S Pen stylus with a built-in camera.
Companies often apply for patents but never create their invention.
In some cases, it's because they think something is a good idea at the time—but later decide it's not worth the effort.
Some companies will also apply for patents to discourage competitors from building a similar device.
And it's also possible that Samsung filed this patent so other companies can make the device themselves, but pay Samsung a fee to use the idea.

Samsung always includes an S Pen stylus with its Galaxy Note smartphones
If Samsung comes up with a lightning-fast S Pen stylus, it would probably only be available for the Galaxy Note series of phones.
Samsung Galaxy Note phones come with built-in S Pen pens that store in a recess in the handset.
Samsung's latest model is the Galaxy Note 9, but we expect a new Galaxy Note 10 to be launched in August this year.
Samsung hasn't confirmed any such launch, however, so take any rumors with a pinch of salt for now.
