Samsung Galaxy S10 finally revealed - camera uses AI to compose the perfect shot

the

Samsung Galaxy S10

has finally arrived after months of Galaxy S10 leaks and rumours, and has brought some friends to the party.

Samsung not only unveiled the Galaxy S10 at its Unpacked event, but four variations of the S10 series.

Overall there is this: Samsung Galaxy S10,

Samsung Galaxy S10+

, Samsung Galaxy S10e and the power

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

.

The latter is the most exciting for camera fans, but this one will have to wait.

What is 5G?And what does it mean for photographers?

But all phones come with impressive camera smarts and new features like Best Shot. Samsung says it's using machine learning to analyze 100 million professional photos to ensure you're getting the "best shot" out of the camera.

Below are the official camera specs for the four handsets on display.

Samsung Galaxy S10 camera specifications

Samsung Galaxy S10E

Rear Dual Pixel 12MP OIS (Wide/F1.5/F2.4), AF

Front Dual Pixel 10MP AF (F1.9)

The Samsung Galaxy S10e has a stripped-down camera setup compared to the rest of the range. In short, it's an iPhone XR contender with two cameras on the back: a 16MP ultra-wide camera alongside a 12MP telephoto lens.

Flip the phone over and there's a Dual Pixel 10MP selfie camera that's a punch.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and Samsung Galaxy S10+

16MP rear (Ultra Wide/f2.2), FF

Rear 12MP OIS (Tele/F2.4), AF

Front Dual Pixel 10MP AF (F1.9)

8 MP Front AF (Depth/F2.2) (S10+ only)

The Galaxy S10 and ?S10+ have three cameras on the back. These consist of a dual-pixel 12MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP telephoto zoom lens. These are the same megapixels as the Samsung Galaxy S9+.

However, the ultra-wide shooting mode is the star of the show here - an additional 16MP ultra-wide lens.

It's a similar lens found on the Huawei Mate 20 Pro, reduced to 0.5x for really close-up shots. It also means you get nice wide views too.

On the front of the S10 is a dual pixel 10MP camera (the same as the Samsung Galaxy S10e).

The Samsung Galaxy S10+, on the other hand, got another 8MP (Depth/f2.2) lens. This is essentially the bokeh lens.

The Samsung Galaxy S10 5G is why you might want to wait for the ultimate camera phone. It won't be out until sometime this summer, but it comes with a whole lot of tech.

Included are all the rear cameras found on the Samsung Galaxy S10+, but the 5G variant comes with a brand new hQVGA 3D depth sensor camera.

This is a (ToF) time-of-flight camera that will massively improve AR and VR on the handset, as well as depth-sensing capabilities.

The Galaxy S10, Galaxy S10+ and Galaxy S10e will be available March 8, 2019.

Prices start at £799 for the Galaxy S10, £899 for the Galaxy S10+ and £669 for the Galaxy S10e. Prices for the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G are TBA.
