Samsung Galaxy S9+ Software-Update

To assist you with the software update for your Samsung device, this page contains the following information:

User Initiated Software Update

This process allows a user to navigate through the device options to check for updates.

On a home screen, touch and swipe up or down to view all apps, touch

Settings > System updates > Check for system updates

When your device finds a new software update, tap

download now

.Upon completion, a screen will appear informing you that the new version of the software is ready to be installed.Tap

Install updates

The device will shut down and turn back on. A screen will appear stating that the installation is complete.Tap

Wi-Fi OTA programming only - Wi-Fi exclusive update

When Wi-Fi is turned on and your device is connected to a Wi-Fi network, your device can receive and download new software updates.

The download occurs when the device is in Wi-Fi coverage, but the coverage doesn't have to be consistent. You can use multiple Wi-Fi networks and disconnect/reconnect to Wi-Fi and the update will occur picks up where it left off until the end.

When the download is complete, you will receive a notification that a new software update is available to install.Tap

to continue with the installation. The device will be switched off and on again and the installation process will begin.

You have successfully updated your software.

Server-initiated software update

You will be notified on your device that a software update is available.

Choose

Install now

and your device will power cycle and the installation process will begin.Tap

to begin installation.Note: If you choose

, this will delay the installation and return you to the home screen. The software update message will appear periodically until you install the update.

After you get the first software update notification, you can start it manually by clicking

Home > Applications > Settings > About device > Software updates

Reboot and install

to install the update. Your device will power cycle and the installation process will begin.

Once the installation is complete, the device will turn off and on again.

System update while roaming

If you're roaming, you won't receive a software update notification. To update, you must either turn on Wi-Fi and wait for the update notification to appear, or update manually by going to . walk

To connect to an available Wi-Fi network, select

WLAN settings

and select an available Wi-Fi network or add a Wi-Fi network manually.

If the software update fails to install, an error screen will appear. However, this only means that the software did not install properly. The device will turn back on with the original software and prompt you to install the software update again. If you don't have a strong connection to the WiFi or Verizon Wireless network, you may not be able to perform an over-the-air software update. Instead, you can connect your device to a computer with Internet access. Connect your device to your computer using your USB cable and then load the

Software Upgrade Assistant

to your computer, which will check for software updates and initiate the software update process.
