went from a kodak m1063 which we loved a few years ago. but wife hated being confused by the settings and the ergonomic layout of the controls which made for more frustration. for her. so i went for simple and powerful decidedly. The front display is pretty awesome. I love that you can activate with a hard tap. we tend to spend more time together than we do with friends. even two weeks ago when we went to cancun with friends we spent just with ourselves half the time and got great footage using the front display to keep us in the area before taking the picture. just brilliant for that. This feature would be really helpful for the photos we took for the family for christmas last year hahai, love that there is no lens to load. it's stationary. and the clarity is awesome. the touch display is awesome. allows for easy adjustment, on the contrary n approach to the wheel on our last camera. much easier and safer if it's a button on a display. I was surprised at the battery life, the only thing that wasn't far above average.I expected it to last for days.it loses a bar after half a day of use.which is still great, but I expected it to lasts forever especially as there is no retractable lens.must be the touchscreen lcd screen.but worth it for the great display.i ordered another battery and charger.worry solved. Takes a micro SD card. I was surprised. Unfortunately there is no mini HDMI slot. That was a hope crushed. But the compact flash is awesome. Definitely goes further and clearer than any digital camera I've used before. I couldn't be happier with the purchase.no more of the woman who gets frustrated and puts a camera in my face and says "fix it!"awwahaha all it takes to work the camera is on the top right.on/off, Trigger, zoom and preview right there. No searching, very simple. Also, technical stuff: I haven't used camera software to transfer photos in many years. I use card readers. But with the micro sd card being difficult to pop out, I tried the usb cable that came with the phone .very easy to use.no worries.here [if it works] two links to two pictures, side by side from the same place in the same place only with auto flash.just to show the difference from the last to the new perspective:[.. .]just click on the photo to switch from the new bright shot to the older [camera] is amazing!!Update:Christmas pics were easier.Set it to a ten second delay and the whole family snuggles in. It counts down the last seconds for you on the front LCD display. very easy to see, this is a very cool feature. we've had this camera for over half a year now and it's still great. the stabilization feature is uniquely awesome. photographing birds in our garden is pretty fun at full zoom. no flash, full zoom, and hold the shutter button almost throughout, everything is so stable that I can capture any part of the picture I want. The battery goes fast so make sure you have backups. We have two backups and a charger. It's a lot of camera, there's a lot of processing in each shot and it's very worth it. ps I love the touchscreen there is a delay but for the photos we are taking it is worth it.
